Cardex is built on the premise that Pokémon card markets are inefficient. Prices lag, sellers misprice, and most buyers don't have the tools to spot the gap. We do.
The problem with card marketplaces
Existing marketplaces like TCGPlayer and eBay are massive — but that scale creates noise. Thousands of listings, wildly different prices, condition disputes, and no easy way to know if a price is actually fair.
Collectors spend hours manually checking comps. Buyers overpay because they don't have data. Sellers underprice because they don't have time to research.
We built Cardex to close that gap — an always-on system that surfaces the right cards at the right price.

The Cardex process
A repeatable, data-driven pipeline that runs every single day.
Market data ingestion
Every morning, our crawler pulls sold listings and active listings from TCGPlayer, eBay (sold comps), and CardMarket (EU).
We normalize for condition using PSA/BGS equivalent grading language. A "Near Mint" on TCGPlayer is compared apples-to-apples with a "NM" on eBay.
We strip outliers — one-off high sales, listings with suspicious feedback scores, auctions with unusual activity.
Valuation & opportunity scoring
Each card gets a 30-day rolling average price, a 7-day trend line (rising, flat, declining), and a liquidity score based on how often it sells.
Our opportunity score flags cards where the current lowest listing is >15% below the 30-day average AND the 7-day trend is flat or rising.
We weight by liquidity: a card that sells 20x/month is more valuable than one that sells once. This prevents us from holding illiquid inventory.
Sourcing & verification
High-scoring cards get sourced — either purchased from underpriced listings we identify, or bought from sellers who contact us directly.
Every card is visually inspected for condition on arrival: centering, surface scratches, whitening, print defects. We grade conservatively.
Anything not meeting our NM or better standard for the listed condition gets repriced or held for bulk sale.
Curated listing
Only cards meeting our criteria get listed on Cardex. Our price is set at a margin below current market — the gap is our value proposition to buyers.
Liquidity badges (HIGH/MED) are shown so buyers understand what they're getting: a fast flipper or a longer-hold piece.
Prices are updated when market conditions shift significantly (>5% movement), keeping our listings honest.
